Reading Time: 4 minutes

So part one of our mining journey is coming to an end.  This second part, we are going small budget.  A mid-range  6 card rig.  All the parts I’m using were listed in my prior articles.  If you haven’t read them yet they are listed at the bottom of this article. I recommend you read these first as they have full descriptions of all parts listed in this article.

Now lets get to the good stuff.

Graphics Cards

RX 570 4GB

Current price: $279.99 X 6 = $1,679.99
Best Algorithm:  ETHASH
Profit per day: $7.02
So before you get the torches and pitchforks because it’s AMD again, think about it.  NVIDIA doesn’t have a true mid-range offering.  The 1070TI is $200 more per card and the 1050TI is about $40 cheaper, but also makes about .30 less a day.

Power Supply

Corsair HXi Series, HX1200i

Price: $269.99

One thing you can’t skimp on is your UPS.  This will run your 6 card rig with ease.  And is the #1 1200w PSU.

Mother Board and CPU

BIOSTAR TB85 LGA 1150  and Intel Celeron G1840 Haswell Dual-Core 2.8 GHz

Total price: $139.99

The cheapest reliable Motherboard and CPU combo for mining and its DDR3.  Money savings all around.

RAM

Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB)

Price:  $28.99
DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

Cheap reliable DDR3.  Thats about all I need to say here.

USB Thumb Drive

Samsung 32GB BAR (Metal) USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Price: $11.99

I know we are only running 6 cards but we’re gonna run LINUX.  Stop being scared of it.

Risers

6-Pack VER 009S PCIe USB RISER 6-Pin PCI-E 16x to 1x

Price:  $39.99

Fans

Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 – Sleeve Bearing

Price: $8.99 x 5 = 44.95

Rig Frame

A Wood Frame

Price: About $20 in supplies

We are going budget build.  So we are taking a trip to LOWES.  About $20 and an hour of your time.  You have a frame.

So lets run some numbers.  The total cost of this rig is $2,227.89 without tax and shipping.  With the cards producing $7.02 a day profit.  This rig will have payed for itself in 314 days.  At current prices that is not a bad ROI at all.  This also means in your first year of ownership you will still profit $357.  At current price levels this 6 card budget rig will net you $2,562 a year, by just keeping a computer on.  And this number will only go up as prices go up.

Conclusion

This concludes the first series in Proof of Walken.  Mining is in my opinion the best way to earn passive income in crypto.  And as prices go up, your profit goes up, and your ROI time goes down.  Stay tuned for my next series where we dive into the intermediate level of mining.  This will include BIOS flashing, voltage adjustments, how profitability is calculated, the effects of mining difficulty and much more.
